Cant get in gear?

Exclamation Cant get in gear?

When my van starts i cant get shiftlever to go in gear. I have to turn ignition key almost to start again to move into gear. Tried replacing ignition and key set. Didnt work. Any ideas?

Are you stepping on the brake pedal to release the solenoid that allows you to remove it from the park position ?

yes i am. i also noticed now my brake lights are out. the fuses are good and brake actuator are working. im pretty good at fixing cars and a guy that has owned 36 vehicles. just wanted some info if any others had this problem.

Default figured it out

found fuse for brake light registering continuity but wasnt really. replaced 15 amp fuse. brake lights back and sensor to ignition working again. first time thats happened but live and learn.
