Does this recommended Maintenance on Used Econoline seem right?
I don't know much about vans or cars in general. Just bought a used 2012 Econoline e250 with 85k miles for $13k.
Took it to a mechanic and the recommended maintenance comes to $1,700.
Seemed high. Wanted to check with you guys. Does this seem reasonable? I know that there's not a lot of detail on this document, but are these kinds of repairs expected at this mileage and do the prices seem reasonable? Also, are some of them less immediately necessary than others? Or should I just bite the bullet and get all of them?
Thanks for the help. Sorry if this is a very uninformed question.
Shops tend to sell parts at retail, and usuallly make a bit on the parts. His prices are fairly inflated IMO..
That said, the parts listed can be owner sourced for quite a bit less.
The shocks (set of 4) about 287.00. The tie rod about 50.00.
The wheels bearing service/check was 60k, and if preformed prior wouldn’t be due yet.
Depending on how this van was used, meaning severe duty, towing/hauling etc,, trans and axle service not a bad idea,, but if used under normal operating conditions services for both wouldn’t be due yet.
Id get another estimate, or a couple, and compare parts/labor prices, and depending on how it was used, a check to see what is under normal intervals for it needs..
