E150 Cruise turns on and sets then speeds up and shuts off

E150 Cruise turns on and sets then speeds up and shuts off
I have a 99 E-150 and when I set the cruise it works for a few minutes and then it creeps up. When it gets about 5 miles or more over the set speed it kicks out. Has anyone a clue what might be the cause. I am wondering is the speed sensor is bad. Thanks.
