Default Which E150 to look for?

Currently running a E150 302 which I like but at issue is the rust. Body guys indicate the body fix up could run couple thousand and do not recommend it in spite of good mechanicals. Instead suggest going with bodies made in the 90's or later because less of a rust possibility in the future.

So, for consideration; since I will be limiting my expenditures to around $6K, would I be better to look for:

1. A 302?
2. Or consider a 4.9 in line six?
3. Or a 4.2 liter V6?
4. Or a 4.6 liter eight cylinder (budget could be a problem, I know)?

General question: Is the 4.2 strong enough for a E150 that normally doesn't carry over 4 hundred pounds?

The thought is--- The truck empty is a pretty heavy machine for that small of an engine, so I question ---- if that would be a good selection to replace my older van, for reliability and economy?

Anyone been there and done this?

Thanks ahead,

Why not look for a 351?

A 300 will have the torque but be slow, 4.6's are worse then a 302, and the 4.2L will be a total gutless turd.

Get a 351 or 5.4L.

later,
Dustin
