Default E250 running rough

I was just driving home in my 2003 e250 6cyl and all of a sudden the van started running rough. Sounds like a slight miss. Check engine light came and by the time I got home to pull the code(s) the scanner didn't find any and now the light doesn't come back on. Van has 57,000 miles. Anyone have any helpful advice to minimize my troubleshooting time out the freezing cold?????
Thanks

Quick and painless. It was the ignition coil not firing on the #1 cylinder. Changed coil and spark plugs and were good to go.

Well thanks for the update. Sometimes these questions go unanswered because no one knows the answer. This time we do, thanks to you.

No problem, half the time there could be so many variables and things to troubleshoot. 1 engine code usually doesn't give the excact cause. This time I got lucky and got to fix it indoors.
