e450 death wobble!
i need some help please! my gran owns a motorhome on a2002 ford E 450. i was riding with herrecently,on the highway when we came to a steep downhill. she applied the brakes to slow down from 65. the whole front end went into a very serious shimmy. the steering wheel started jumping all over the place. we pulled over believing there was a flat orserious front end problem, and it shimmied all the way down to a stop. all six tires were fine, and the tierods were not loose( at least to a quickwiggle test.) welimped under 40mph to the campground. we were only a mile or two away.I could not replicate this problem, even taking it out to the same stretch of highway.
if anyone has anyideas, please help!! she is not very comfortable driving it home!
all help is appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!

RE: e450 death wobble!
Well, I had the same problem with my 150 van. Wobble like crazy under hard braking. I found that sometimes I could make it stop by taking my foot off the brake then stabbing the brake hard.
It did this for over a year (I live in an area with few hills so I seldom experienced the problem---No hill, No HARD braking). I put in new rotors. No help. I bought one extra rotor and tried swapping, one at a time. No help.
Then the steering fluid started leaking from the steering box. I replaced the steering box and everything seemed fine for a year or so. Now, I think I just felt it trying to wobble again. Just a hint (I think).
I hope this helps.
