Default EGR code

99 E150 4.6 V8
My service engine soon light came on. I drove it to the local parts store and used the OBDII code reader. Code stated "EGR excessive flow", or something to that nature. I replaced the EGR sensor, cleared the code, and the service light returned the next day. I then changed the EGR valve itself, cleared the code, and the service light returned the next day. I then changed the EGR vacuum selonoid, cleared the code, and the service light returned the next day. Cananyone please help me with this???? Thevancontinues to run excellent. She only has 86,000 miles. I cannot think of anything else to change. Abuddy of minetold me to take a piece of black electrical tape and cover up the service light (problem fixed he said). That's not how I work. Please help.....Thank you.

John, I had a light come on as well and it ended up that my gas filler tube had come loose. A loose gas cap may do the same thing. I agree with you and not your friend.

I appreciate your response, but fail to see how a loose gas gap would give me a code stating EGR flow exessive. Would a loose gas filler tube or poorly sealed gas gap give that code?

I'm not sure if that would be the code BUT it never hurts to check it out. I had a service station read the code on their expensive reader. The first thing asked, was about the loose gas cap. My van is a 1997 with the V6. I had attempted to reset the code by disconnecting the battery. That only worked for about a week. After replacing the hose and clamps, I no longer had the "Check engine" code return.
