Default Engine Hiccuping

Hello Guys,

I have an Econoline 150 4.6L 2002. The engine does what is called I think Hiccuping. It does it 80% of the time the engine is running. Maybe it does it even more when is cold. It does it when is in Parking, Neutral, or D.
What could it be??

Thanks!!!!!

Ya know , it's great spending someone else's money, but ya gotta look in the mirror too and , well , it isn't really that great !
We could compose a list of "could be " things , but as long as you just give them some thought, that would be fine.
To suggest some things we should really have some history of what has been done to your vehicle.
Routine maintenance items like spark plugs, fuel filter and any other work that was done is important to know.
Things like fuel pump, coils, throttle system are only some of the could be 's.
Add to that poor quality fuel. contaminated fuel and last but not least those darn poor electrical connections. So many good parts get replaced because the thorough checking was passed over. It is not always wise to try to diagnose over the internet as much as we would like to try to help. Some tests should be performed to rule out some of the could be's before spending money on maybe's,what do you think ?

As soon i got it changed: oil/oil filter/air filter/fuel filter/spark plugs/checked all fuses.
Added injector cleaners
Previous owner said did the basic maintenance.

Throwing parts at the problem can get expensive. Suggest you have someone with a good scan tool check the readings for unusual numbers and possible history codes. Then some direction may be obtained and proper repairs done.

Your advises are not very helpfull hanky. Is the same as saying: Take it to the mechanic and he will tell you.
