I recently acquired an 07 E250 extended with a 6' high roof. I want to maximize the inner volume for my custom conversion. Does anyone have any tips on removing the inner shell of the dome? May it become to weak?

Note: Ive noticed the top roof is made up of two fiberglass shells, the inner and outer. There is approx 4-5" of wasted space in between that seem to just hold wires to the lights. Maybe theres insulation in there two, but I doubt it.
