Here's my deal my 1995 E250 handicap van has 101,000 on it, just started idling real high now it's shifting hard and it has to to be at high rpm's to shift into a higher gear it's like the overdrive is gone do you think a rebuild kit will work or sound like the transmission is gone? It's a 5.8L.

 

Check the fluid level and quality.

 

hey money,the trans fluid level will not cause it to have a high idle.it sounds like you have a bad tps sensor.that will cause a high or erratic idle and for the trans to shift poorly.......

 

Had the tps sensor changed that fixed the idel problem but but it's still shifting pretty hard any ideas why?
