Hi, i am new member and have a problem with my company Ford E250 Van.
Scenario: This Van has 134k miles 5.4 Engine. I bought it 3 Month ago and it was not going in Overdrive.
I started with all Sensors new outside of transmission. speed Sensors (both..input and output) Shiftt Sensor.
The Overdrive light keeps constantly blinking on end of shift lever.
So now i changed Transmission with brand new 4R75E which belongs in this Model Van
Again the shift lever OD light is blinking. Van stays in i would say 2nd gear not shifting up..Reverse works too.
Then i had it by Ford..($372) for telling me i need new PCM...They wanted $1100 for it...i decided to get one from a well known PCM dealer here in Town programmed for my VIN for $270
So i just got done putting it in and the damn light still blinks like before.
I am done with this POS Ford..sorry...but this is too much ...BTW i changed the Transmission Wire Harness also.
Any Help really appreciated
And please don"t ask for a code...i went thru that by FORD and it throws no code at all.
It sounds like your trans is locked in limp mode.
I wouldn't condemn the PCM without doing tests to confirm.
Have you tried a forced reset, disconnecting grd cable from battery and holding the end against the pos cable end for a few minutes then reconnecting the neg cable back to the battery again. . When you start the vehicle without touching the throttle pedal, what does the lite on the shift lever do now?
Thanks for trying to help, i will try these steps first thing in the morning. I allready swapped the PCM and have new Transmission . Just drove around the block one time...but will not shift just like the old transmission did. I will try the reset in the morning but i highly doubt that this is the issue. I will post results. Thanks again.
As you already know by now , replacing good parts can get expensive and disappointing, so you might want to step back a little and maybe take a different path
The better way to attack a problem like this is to learn a little about the vehicle and system before handing your wallet over to someone else.
Just because you installed a bunch of "new" parts is no guarantee, period. Today's vehicles require some basic knowledge and special tools to diagnose and verify certain results. ANY other way is is like playing the lottery. If you do not have the knowledge or tools , you might consider having a qualified shop handle the job.
At this point so much has been done we just have to start at the beginning because we do not know if everything you did might have introduced an additional problem or two or three. If you have some basic electrical background and ACCESS to the correct info that is a good start. Then you need some special test equip and know how to use it.. Where do you stand with this?
An Update to this Issue. I can not log in with my Nolacool account...idk why.
I took out the Main Engine Wire harness and found right away the burned/rubbed spot.
Called Ford to order the new harness but Ford does not sell them anymor...WTF ?....so i looked online and found one by Ebay for 300. Installed it and the Van is running like NEW.
Spread the news...if OD Light is blinking its not allways a bad Transmission.
I attached a Picture of the Harness.
