Default planning on installing a OEM Remote start

Hi, i have a 1996 ford E350 and i need to add remote locks, it never had a remote, but has power locks. so might as well add the remote start as well, how hard is it to do it myself? is it plug and play or would i have to wire it in?

I've used SPAL products https://webstore.spalusa.com/ in the past to add power windows, locks with remote and standard PDL's to 90 vintage Fords. Pretty cost affective and work well. The remote start wouldn't be plug'n play for your MY. Plug'n play really didn't come to be until 2007 for Ford offered kits..

So it would take 3 hours, does anyone have a diagram to show how it's connected?
Pictures of one would be really helpful.

Since you already have PDL's you should be able to get a combo kit that does remote start along with remote entry all in one system and only one control fob. There's a lot of aftermarket kits available and prices vary. eBay has quite a few listing on the different manufacturers for purchase or to shop and compare systems. Some of the kits will come with specific/vehicle installation help, some come with software as a guide.

The time to install,, will vary with kits, and your ability and tools vailable. If you pick up a kit and still need circuit/wiring help I can supply you with your vehicle specific schematics and wiring help.

this is just my opinion but I wouldn't have remote start on a vehicle of any kind the chance of someone else other than myself could have the fob or remote could steal my vehicle and I like the idea of having the key to start it that way I'm the only one who could start it and go
