Default Power locks 2006 E-350 Super Duty

Hi everyone, long time lurker 1st time poster.

I have a 2006 E-350 Super Duty and the power locks have started acting strange. They don’t work, but when I put the key in the lock and turn it I’ll hear the motors in ALL the doors whizzing and trying to push the buttons up and down. That will last for a few seconds and then stop.

I checked the fuse and relay and they are both fine. I assume there must be power getting to the switches, so I’m kind of stumped. Any ideas? Thanks!

Have you lubed up the mechanisms lately? Gonna need to pull of the door panels and give everything a good shot of your lube of choice. If they all sound like they are wanting to work then this sounds like the first step to me. Good Luck.

Anytime when other things attempt to operate when only one is supposed to, The selected one is using the others for a ground. Suggest with starting from negative battery terminal and clean every ground you can see that goes to sheet metal.

Thanks for all the suggestions folks.

I’ve got a feeling the rear cargo door switch is the problem. It’s been working on and off lately, and when I took it out to inspect it, it looks pretty roached and when you shake it there’s stuff rattling inside it. Anyway the trouble is that the switch is discontinued and not available anywhere. I’d like to try bypassing that switch first to see if this is the problem but I’m not sure how I’d do it. I assume I’d have to jump some of the sockets in the connector but there are 5 pins and I can’t figure out which is which.

Ok so here’s an update. I took the rear switch apart and the rattling sound inside was one of the switch contacts corroded off (you can see it in the picture below on the right).

If I can’t find a new switch (unlikely since it’s been discontinued for over a decade) I’m going to have to figure out a way to bypass this switch so the others will still work. Any ideas?

To bypass the switch, connect BN to PK/OG, separately connect RD to PK/BK and insulate BK/WH.

Note that the wiring is completely different if you have Remote Keyless Entry - Those only have three wires on the switch.
