Question Radio Replacement Saga

I have a 2002 E-350 Super Duty van & a 2001 F-350 Super Duty 4x4 pickup. The stereo in the van was crap, so had a new Pioneer Touch Screen installed. Big Mistake!
Just after the Warrantee expired, the CD/DVD option completely disappeared from the screen. That PLUS trying to operate it while driving is worse than trying to drive and text. I don't really need all that modern crap anyway, Have separate GPS and a laptop for DVDs.

The 6 CD system in my 2001 pickup still works great, so I want to know if I find the OLDER (2001) model, will the electrical plugs and such MATCH my 2002 E350 van?

Thanks

Looking at the connector views between the F and E and the two different years, the connector number is different, but visually and pin/circuits are the same between the two rigs.. If you want the connector views, let me know....

Would like the connector numbers and pictures for both rigs to be sure I have the right ones when I attempt the switch.

Thanks for the pictures of the connectors.
Will post again when I have updates on the switch.

Am off to the junk yard to start looking for the right connector and attached radio,

The OE connector was cut off to accept the aftermarket unit?

Default The Saga Continues

Harness connector was not removed, so that is a plus.

Found this site: www.oemautosound.com/p-148-radio-ford-6-disc-3l3t-18c815-bd.aspx
The CD6 by Visteon will fit:
1999 - 2003 F series & Super Duty
2000 - 2007 E series Econoline

Called the local Ford dealership and asked about ordering a new/refurbished CD6. They said they could ONLY sell me a radio that was offered on the original vehicle as an option. Seems to me that I should be able to order what I want, rather than them telling me it can't be done. I guess 'will fit' and 'was offered' is like Ford vs Yugo.

We used to peruse the local dismantlers..

OE units were had for a decent price.. eBay is an option as well..
