shifting problem

Default shifting problem

ok I have a 1994 e150 5.8 don't know what transmission it has anyway when the van is cold the trans wont shift I can manualy shift from o/d to 2nd then it shifts, but after I drive it for awhile and it gets warmed up it will start to shift any one have an idea whats wrong.thanks for any help

When was the last time the trans fluid and filter were changed?

ok how many quarts of fluid will it hold

There is no guarantee the filter and fluid change will correct the problem, but if the last service is unknown it is a good place to start.
When draining the pan and converter it should take 14 quarts to refill.

i'll be damned did some research found out it could be a tps related problem so I pulled the throttle body replaced the tps and that van is shifting like a dream who woulda thought,well if it don't rain tomorrow im going to service the trans

Overdrive issues with 01 E150 4.6 auto. After 35 mph overdrive revs like in neutral. Have to shift down to 3 rd. runs fin in all other gears. Can I fix this? Thx JWF

Depends on how determined you are.
There is a lock ring that breaks for the OD and the valve body needs to be removed from the trans to find and get the pieces. Are you able to handle something like this? You also have to be able to get the OD band in the correct location for the OD servo piston to make it work correctly then install the piston and retaining ring. Not a difficult job , but can get difficult if pieces are not assembled correctly.
