Default 2007 Ford Edge stalling loss of accelleration due to fuel issue

My Ford Egde has an issue where at times I go to start the vehicle and the engine cranks up rough, the check engine light comes on, and it doesn't seem to get gas to go. I can turn it off wait for a few minutes and then it strats up fine. The newest symptom is that I will be driving on the highway and the check engine will come on and the engine doesn't seem to get fuel to get up to speed. I need to get off the highway and pull over for a few minutes to turn the vehicle off and start it back up. I does this atleast once a week.
Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this issue. Unfortunately this vehicle has a "lifetime" fuel filter that doesnt need replacing??
Any help would be appreciated

Please post the codes set by the PCM when you get the check engine light, that should point you and us in the right direction and save a lot of guessing.
