2014 Ford Edge Sport, Rear Diff service
Hey y'all, I work at a lube shop and got the chance to check out my rear differential fluid well not to my surprised it hasn't been serviced probably since the day it came out of the factory. (I'm a second owner btw) Fluid is black and is pretty low
now the question is, does it have a drain bolt or is it the one that you have to suck it out and put new one in? I also saw a bolt near where the drive shaft connects to the diff similar to what the drain bolt at the back looks like, wanna know if that is for something else?

Most Ford differentials I have seen do not have a drain bolt/plug.. You wind up removing the diff cover , let it all drain out, wipe out what doesn't drain out, clean the surfaces and reinstall the cover using RTV gasket maker. The fill plug was on the passenger side of the differential , usually a 3/8 inch square drive recessed plug. The lube was filled to the level of the plug. Depending on what type differential was in the vehicle determined what specific lube went into it. That info was always available in the owner's manual and was the best way to know just what type lube was required.. Most late models used a synthetic lube.like 75W140, but not all .
