Default Brakes hanging up (only when in drive) from stop, doesn't happen in Neutral / reverse

Very odd, 2011 Edge sport brakes have a delayed release at a stop only when in Drive.. its not the calipers, its the brake hydraulics holding after letting of the brake pedal at a stop for a second or 2 but only when in drive, it does not happen in reverse or in neutral. Any ideas on what could cause this??

thanks,

Is your vehicle equipped with "Hill Start Assist"? If so, then anytime you're on a slope and go to take off, the system will hold the brakes for a couple of more seconds before releasing to eliminate roll back anytime you're stopped on a hill. Facing up or down hill, it works on both. Not sure when Ford started using it or which vehicles have/get it. Check your owners manual.

Quite a few imported new vehicles now have this feature and it takes a little getting used to it, but it is nice to have when needed.

Any idea why it would be happening on level ground? (I could understand on a hill). Is there way to disable it to verify this is what is causing this?
