Edge SE 2022 Transmission Overhaul
I purchased my Ford Edge 2.5 years ago, and during that time, it had some warranty work done, including a rearview camera replacement and a vapor canister replacement. However, about two months ago, I started noticing a shudder while driving. The vehicle has 40k miles on it, and it's still within the 5-year/60k-mile warranty for the transmission. After noticing the issue, I took it to the dealer two weeks later for an inspection. They determined that the transmission required an overhaul, which was covered under the warranty.
Since then, I was given a loaner vehicle for about a week. After that, I had to rent a car, as I don’t own any other vehicle. Now, it’s been five weeks, and the work is still not completed, with an additional week left for repairs.
I’ve been researching online and found that 2019-2024 models of the Ford Edge are known to have transmission issues under 60k miles. Additionally, the engine manifold often fails around the same mileage. It seems that the transmission and engine combination in these models might be prone to premature wear. I’m curious if others have experienced similar issues and would appreciate any feedback.
I still have a significant amount left on my loan, so trading in for a newer car doesn’t seem like a viable option. A local mechanic suggested that regularly draining and refilling the transmission fluid every 25k miles could help reduce wear, but I’m unsure if that’s an effective practice. Does anyone have thoughts or advice on this?

Of course some depends on your driving habits. If you drive what would be considered "normal" , the only thing that might be hurt might be your wallet.
Extra maintenance ,when performed "carefully" with cleanliness, never hurts. Sometimes in spite of perfect maintenance, things do break.
Peace of mind is what you are really paying for. Hope I provided some help, .
