and that's why I won't buy a brand new car or truck from any company. way too much money to fix and way too many design flaws. Ford does know that there is problem but the higher ups won't do anything to fix it because it will cost them dearly. what they really need to is trash the design for the power train and put some good old school reliability back in it

where do you live? I am in canada having the same problem. Only they cant find the problem. Also they said they have never heard of this happening before either. I would love to talk to a shop that knows about this.
Thanks, Carla.

Carla- I live in Atlanta Ga. This issue with this car is VERY frustrating , and also when you talk to Ford they act like you have three heads and have no clue as to what your talking about . My solution was I sold my car at a loss , and got rid of it . I am saving towards a new car that I will pay cash for , and I can promise you it wont be a Ford. There is little to no help on Fords end . My car started acting weird with a little over 100 miles on it and when I kept taking it back to Ford as it was under warranty they couldn't duplicate or find any issues , and they told me this was "normal" for my car to be acting this way . Well 145,000 later their "normal" was a all along a transmission issue that they failed to recognize and as a result as many on here have had more serious issues at lesser miles , mine went crazy . I don't think its a "complete " transmission issue , as if the total transmission was out , I wouldn't have any gears or the car would not engage when going up and down hills . Ford just wanted to blanket the issue and tell me 4800 later a new transmission . I am really sorry your having issues , and with the many other owners on this forum its sad that Ford can put out a faulty transmission that obviously is a HUGE issue and fail to rectify the issue. Shame on FORD !!! As I said to the Ford rep my best defense on a poorly constructed product is not to promote it , and was my point and reason for selling my edge I refuse to promote or drive a car that the company knows darn well has issues and fails to do what is right by all those having this issue. Had Ford stepped up to the plate and made good on this obvious issue I may still have it today .
Good luck with your Edge.

I tried telling Ford about all the issues everyone on here are having and they say you can't listen to other people and that we are only a small percentage complaining, not enough to pay attention to us i guess. They said a few people out of thousands isn't enough to say there is a problem with these cars. Cop-out for them is all it is. I want to get rid of it but my husband doesn't want to take the $ loss. This just sucks. Thanks for your info....

Not everybody is on the net that might have the issue, and some have no idea how to search etc. so there can be 100s with the same issues. Only Ford knows how many have repoted the issue and I think they will not tell anybody but themselves. They all have their book of excuses.

Yes Carla , that is the same song and dance they gave me as well . Main reason I decided to sell the car . I did sadly take a loss , but mine was paid for , so the sting wasn't too too bad , I don't believe Ford when they say only a handful of people are complaining . Just not right what they are doing , and even if they do get a couple thousand , to me as a company that would be a couple thousand too many as complaints .
Hope it works out for you .

It is a 2008. Paid $18 before taxes, $21 on the road, now when looking at trading in to get something else they only want to give me $11 for it. Such a huge loss!!!! But everyday there are more and more things going wrong. What a money pit!!!!!
