Default 02 Escape XLT V8 swap?

Okay, I know it sounds completely ridiculous and time-consuming. I know my truck is almost 20 years old, but I've put so much time and money into it that I would not mind replacing the engine if ever needed (knock on wood).
Please save your time telling me to replace my truck, etc.
This is completely rhetorical but I would love some input from you folks.
How would I go about doing a V8 swap? Which engine would be best? There is not much information online about this, probably because it's a really dumb idea and completely unnecessary.
I appreciate your time.

Not to be rude/unhelpful but I cannot imagine a V8 engine fitting in that engine bay, theres already not much extra room with the V6 engine.
I would say the 4.6 is the smallest ford V8 from the same period.

no you're not rude/unhelpful. That's a really good point, you're very right. I wish it were possible, it'd be a very interesting sleeper
thank you

I wonder if this (4.7 L) gem would fit:

That would be awesome.

Dude, you planted this idea in my head...and I just found a rebuilt 260 V8 (4.3L). This engine was in a Sunbeam Tiger - a pretty small car! I am seriously considering doing this (to my 2001 Escape).

I love the idea! No doubt it can be done. I have a V8 S10 pickup that is a ton of fun and the thought of having a V8 in my 2010 Escape really has got my wheels turning.
