'03 Escape dies on the road?
My Mom has an '03 Escape, and it dies on the road. I've been riding with her, and just driving along, it'll shut off. Some times it will restart easily, but sometimes not.... Seems to do it under nearly any condition - on the gas, off the gas. It's been to the dealer 3 times in the last week.... First time, they said there was nothing wrong. 2nd time, they kept it a couple days, and mechanics took it home (it happened to them!). 3rd time they said they had to 'reset' the computer to 'accept' the new parts they installed.... I think it was some sort of idle/air sensor..... Was supposed to be fixed.... It is now in the shop again. Seems to be more of a problem when the engine is cold. I don't know what/if there were any codes. They seem to be mystified as to the problem..... It has right around 29k miles..... mostly a grocery getter, so it does get used a few times a week, but is rarely in foul weather..... Ideas?????

next time it happens disconnect the MAF sensor, it will be right on your air intake tube right after the air filter, just disconnect the connector and try to start it, if it starts up immediatly, and runs fine all the way home that is your problem.
That dealer needs to hook up the "Black Box" which is a flight recorder. When it stalls, they hit the button and it stores all PID data from the prvious 10 seconds. Sounds like a fuel pump to me.
Mulletman,
That's what they're going to do this week. We thought they had the problem this last time in the shop, but it has done it again, so back it goes. They claim they'll hook up this gizmo, drive it around, and *hope* that it acts up....... Sounds like your black box to me.
