Hi, I am considering doing a motor swap from an 05 Ford escape to a 2000 Mercury sable and I am looking for any input as to whether or not this will work. Both are the 3.0 duratech. My options is with this free engine out of the escape that was in a rollover crash with 102k miles, or I found this 2000 ford Taurus for 500$ with 88k miles and was in no crash, frame just rotted out. I am aware water pumps are driven differently in 05 and 00 engines, what else should I be aware of?

 

Big difference in the electronics, would not advise.

The manufacturers change things from year to year and even mid year !!. If at all possible , try to get one from EXACT year..

 

You can't just use the wiring harness and ecu that's on the sable on the 05 escape motor?
