Hello to all, his is my first post here regarding an '08 escape xlt,4wd,3.0.
It's running fine, but has recently started to "whine" almost like a power-steering pump sound.....
It seems to be coming from around the intake. I thought it might be a vacuum leak, but it's running at normal rpms idling.
It's fairly loud upon startup, but kinda mellows down once driving..... weird, and I've been trying to get a hold of a Chiltons or Haynes manual now for over a year for the escape.
Anyway, any help is appreciated, thanks.

I do not know the escape, but a way to check for belt or belt drive system noise/problems is to remove belt and start engine. Short period will not cause an probelms but will isolate noise as belt related or not.............. Could just be a hardened/glazed belt.
