Default 12v power outlet issue on 2001 Escape

Hello. I just bought a very well maintained '01 Escape. Love the car. Everything works except for the 12v power outlet below the radio. The cigar lighter (manual calls it that!) is separate of course.

Manual says the 15a fise for it is under the hood in those fuses, the one in question in the 'PWR2' slot. I replaced it but still no go.

What should my next step be to get working? Guess it's just bad wiring?

TIA

Hello. Thank you for the help. By BJB you mean what the manual calls the 'power distribution box' under the hood, yes?

On the diagram of that box it shows two small (blue) fuses, their slots labeled pwr1 and pwr2, both listed as 'auxiliary power'. Somehow I only saw pwr2 and so did not check pwr1, doing do now.Curious there are two though only one outlet in car. Maybe that was for an optional second. Anyway, I am not clear how you know those are at #16 and 18? The diagram I have does not have the PDB fuses numbered.

Thank you.

Ahh, of course it was the pwr1 15a fuse in the PDB not the pwr2 one (can't figure out what that is even for!).

Car is golden now!

Cheers

Hello. My earlier reply did not post...

Anyway, yes Page 80 of the owner's manual shows a spot in the very back on the drivers side, just underneath the netted pocket, where the second outlet goes. XLT? I have XLS (upgraded to V6, alloy wheels, etc.) which does not have the second one.

Cheers
