Hi, I have a 2001 Escape 2.0. Problem I'm having It will start and run for about 5 sometimes 10 secs. then dies. I have replaced fuel pump, fuel filter, plugs, wires coil and crank position. change main . I checked fuel and fuel pump relays I checked, fuel pressure after filter and its good.

Any help be greatly appreciated

 

Good? what is your measured fuel pressure? Will the engine start any better by cycling the key several times prior to cranking? Also, check the idle air control solenoid on the throttle body. It may be time to remove and clean it's pintle and the bore in which the AIC resides.
With a scan tool to check for any codes. What are the fuel trims? A highly positive reading beyond +5 would indicate a lean condition maybe from a vacuum leak.

 

Thanks for response, I hooked up pressure gauge on out lit of fuel f ilter no schrader on fuel rail. I believe the first cycle was up to 60psi but when I recycled key with was over 120 and blew hose out,..
it starts up the same regardless if I cycle key, It will run few seconds. I currently don't have a diagnostic tool but was able to put code P0320 and P011 I will check IAC today.

 

If you pulled a P0320, look at your crank/cam position sensor or its wiring. A problem with that will cause ignition timing issues and interuption of fuel delivery.

 

so far I changed out the crank sensor. I'll look and replace cam sensor to. I only did crank cause of what I read. Its strange that if will fire up and run for few secs then just cuts out more less like electrical issue

 

just learned tonight that motor that's in the escape is out of a 1999 escort. Should I repost this to the escort site? Not sure what difference there is on motors
