Default 2005 brakes

Hi everyone, I am having difficulty removing the front rotors on my wifes 2005 escape. I read in the chiltons manual that there is no in depth review on how to remove them so I figured it would be standard procedure as with most brakes (WRONG!!!!!). I removed the nut that I assume holds the rotor on the axle hub and no luck the thing will not budge. I have also noticed that in pictures for the rotor it seems to seperate just before the hub and slips over the axle studs but rotors like this usually have a screw mounting them to the axle hub which I do not see. If anyone can please help or has had similar problems please let me know because I desperately need to get this done and do not want to shell the money out to have a shop do it. Also if I am having this much difficulty with the front rotors are the rears any different? Any and all help is appreciated guys, thanks

Trevor

If you removed the large nut in the center of the hub, you removed the axle stub nut and doesn't require removal.. The disc is just a 'slip fit' onto the hubs center and over the lug studs as you described.. It may just need a 'bump' to jar it loose.. You might spray some penetrant onto the hub/studs and 'strike' the hub/rotor face to rattle it loose with a brass hammer/drift.. Here's an exploded view of the brake rotor, anchor plate ect...

Rears are similar, only a 'drum in hat' ebrake..

Sometimes you need to strike hub face of rotor with big hammer 32oz - 48oz to get these to pop off hub. For future service it would be a good idea to spread antiseize on surface before installing new rotors.
