my wife has a 05 escape. when we bought the car it did not have the remote for the factory keyless entry. we went online and bought a remote and done the step by step programming diagram and it would not unlock unless u are right next to the car. we then took it to a dealer and they done it and got the same result. i was told it would be cheaper to do a aftermarket unit instead of fixing the factory unit. we done that and up untill recently we had no probs. now the doors are randomly locking with or without the key in the vehicle.

the other day we was out in it and when we got ready to go home it would not start. i talked to a couple friends i know who work at shops and they all said it went into protection mode. anyone know how to bypass the factory system or if it can be bypassed
