Default 2009 escape puttering out while driving

2009 escape XLT 3.0L

while driving, I'll start feeling the engine puttering, and the car will get jumpy
the battery light turns on, followed closely by the oil light
the throttle becomes unresponsive forcing me to pull over, and upon restarting the car it feels a little funny at first then it's fine.
this has happens twice now, yesterday at a McDonald drive through and today on the highway of all places forcing me to pull over
I've read around that it COULD be the EGR valve, but I figured what's better than a Ford forum to ask around

any help is greatly appreciated

So the battery is maintaining a charge? I would have thought that or the alternator, except you're able to restart the car.
