2009 Ford Escape
Recently purchased 2009 Escape 3.0 XLT 4x4 164,00 miles needs work, changed spark plugs, ignition coils, fuel injectors, EGR Tube, new gaskets, air filter, cabin air filter, now running well. Rotated tires now have tire light on dashboard will deal with that later. Escape has started a vibration when at a red light for about 30 seconds to a minute, coming from right / passenger front engine compartment. Sounds like an air compressor coming on, can anyone tell me what this is ?
I asked the question regarding if all the heat/vent controls were off because if there is a possible problem with the air conditioning compressor, it might be able to produce that noise. A lot of folks don't realize the compressor works when the Defrost function is left in the selected position..
Did you go over all your work and look to see if something was left off or incorrectly placed?

Thank you for your reply, as you most likely know the 2009 Escape 3.0 has a lot to take off to get to the plugs, ignition coils, fuel injectors, etc. - I found a cracked spark plug at #4 in the back and thought I had the problem, so replaced plugs and ignition coils put everything back together. Code comes up so I take everything off and replace fuel injectors, code comes up again saying a emissions blockage this time. I see that they are getting the EGR tube off on the 3.0 without taking everything off, but do not have proper tools so gave it to my mechanic. He could not get it off, so I took everything off for him for access, he had to heat the tube to get it off and damaged the tube. Order the tube from Ford which is on back order took 4 days to get it, well he put everything back on and overcharged me. So yes it is very possible something is not put on correctly, I will go over everything may have to take things off so I can get a good look, and will keep in mind the AC compressor. Thank you again for replying really appreciate it I will let you know how things work out.,
Unfortunately, this is how a lot of things go these days. Sometimes we take one step forward and two back.
If you can, do you recall just what the code(s) was?
Sometimes, looking at a problem from a different angle can be helpful.

Hi, the first code was P0302 that is when I found the cracked spark plug, thought I had it changed plugs and ignition coils. Then P0304 comes up so I looked everything over and then changed the fuel injectors which I should have done the first time as it has 164,00 miles on it. Then P0400 comes up EGR restriction, and the EGR tube had carbon build up in it. I am hoping that I do not have to replace the EGR valve, however have not finished the drive cycle. In a day or two when the sun comes out will go look over all the connections and hoses.
Yes possibly do you have any suggestions for that, it is running great, here is something I forgot when reading the repair manual about a month ago for the 2009 Escape. When the battery cables have been disconnected or the battery has gone dead, because the battery cable was disconnected for a few days. You must start and allow to run for a minute, then turn on the Air Conditioner and drive for 10 minutes with the Air Conditioner on. Because the Air Conditioner has to reset itself with the computer memory, totally forgot about that statement in the repair manual. So I am going to check all the connections and hoses, disconnect the negative battery cable and let it sit a couple of days, clear the codes and do that and see what happens. Because it does sound like the Air Conditioner is trying to turn on, will keep you posted.
