2010 Ford Escape Hybrid partially stuck charging
My crusty and trusty old escape is giving me trouble. While driving, the charging system won't disengage all the way, leaving the charging indicator has the needle slightly on the charge side. When this happens the gas engine never shuts off unless you shift into neutral. While in neutral, when the engine shuts off the tachometer sits right at 10000rpm. Most of the time a cycle or two of aggressive acceleration and braking gets it acting right. If anyone can point me in the right direction on getting this fixed I would greatly appreciate it
If you have the background training and equip, (Special Gloves) and know what to disconnect to be safe working on it I suspect a relay/contactor may be hanging up.
I would point you to a shop that is equipped and has the training to do any electrical work on it.
How long has the high voltage battery been in there? They are only good for 5-6 years. AND Come at a hefty price.
