hey Folks; all the sudden like the lights on the volume and tunning ***** on my radio went out. I asked the stealership and the mechanic said something about it being in the motherboard. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this prob. the ***** work the corresponding functions but just don't light up. Too, can it be fixed or do I just order one online and replace it.....Thoughts,opinions? talk amongst yourselves and get back to me.

 

Late model vehicles have what is considered a network. Many modules compose the network and the radio believe it or not is considered one of the modules.
When modules get replaced, some need to be programmed to the vehicle or the network will not operate properly, if at all. Suggest you do some addl homework before just changing anything, radio included. Some networks will operate partially and permit the vehicle to start. Some don't unless programmed. Your Ford service dept should be able to better answer your concerns.
