I was changing the oil on my 2014 Escape Titanium. I was checking out the engine compartment and looked down at the top of the radiator and seen an electrical connection hanging loose. I bought this used in 2015 and I have never had it in the shop for any problems The Escape has no lights on and is running great! This wire that holds this electrical part is fastened, center, top, near the hood latch cable on the frame that holds the radiator, it looks to be some kind of switch, I've attached some photos. What is it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Reason: Better description
That item has a micro switch mounted on the end of it. I am not sure what would actuate that switch but the harness is just so long. You should be able to see its mounting location using the length of its harness. When mounted in its original position, a movable piece will press in on that thin strip of metal activating the switch. Pressing on the metal switch, you should hear the switch "click". My guess is that it activate a light when the hood is open. Try the switch and see what happens.
Yes, I figured it was a switch. The wire its connected to is connected about 4 inches to the radiator frame. I'm thinking that why its hanging loose is because the bracket is missing or got broke before I purchased the Escape. Thanks for your input.
Looking at your images, the wire color/tracer at the connector are for the hood ajar switch as raski noted.
Here's a few images for identification, location view, connector view, and schematic showing the wire colors...
Hmmm, I'll look again, but again I think the bracket and the switch is broke because I have no lights on in the dash. I'll call the dealer and ask. Thanks for everyone's assistance.
