Purge Valve Solenoid Replacement - howto video
Was having issues with 2009 v6 escape. for awhile a long high idle on cold start and/or warm, slight hesitation on idle on aceleration and weird deceleration. really didnt think much about it, car has 232000km.
went to put gas in while car was still running, not a fillup, after a few minutes of driving escape was having driveabilty issues, erractic idle at any speed, almost stalling coming to a stop, and gas cap light on dash, even though we dont have one.
did a code scan and multiple codes came up that were unrelated to each other, almost suspected bad ecu or bad power or grounds to ecu or it could have happen because of erractic engine behavior causing a weird electrical behavior screwing up comms to ecu.
cleared the codes and all went except evap code stayed persistent because didnt do a full driving cycle to test emmisions on evap.
but i did remember on having a small leak code a few months back, no check engine light though, just a code scan revealed it.
i decided to check my purge valve and found out it was sucking in unmetered air from the cannister in the closed position, easy test as shown in video, a fairly easy job if you can get a 8mm ratchet wrench with micro teeth.
its been a week and it drives much better than before, shorter high idle on startups, no weird acceleration issues, no more slight hesitation.
as for the multiple random error codes, nothing as of yet
