ok ....i have a 2006 escape 4x4 with no **** to turn it on. the 4x4 light flashes 10 times then goes out for a minute or so then flashes again ...only thing i have found on research is that it is over heating. when it first started doing this if i would turn the key off and restart the car it would be fine. now however it is doing it all the time. any ideas where to start looking for the problem

 

Has this problem surfaced after some work was done on the vehicle ? The reason I ask is because sometimes ground wires are ignored thinking they are not necessary, then bring unexplainable problems up the road.

 

.i bought the car used in 2010 and in the fall of 2011 it started every once in a while and if i turned the car off and re started the car it was fine ....then about September it started doing it all the time....and i didnt do any work to the car when it first started but i dont know about other owners
