Default 4x4 auto not work8ng but lock does

Hey guys yet another issue I'm having.
2 months the ago rear wheels had no power in auto or 4x4 lock.and after getting the rear diff changed out everything was great.

But yesterday got stuck in snow and the rear wheels where not spinning st all just the front wheels.

However when I put the switch to 4x4 lock the rear wheels spun with the front.

So question is what causes the 4x4 auto not to work?
No lights flashing or anything.

I think you need to confirm that the transfer case is not transferring power to the rear driveshaft. The only safe way to do this is to have all 4 wheels up off the ground. If you only raise the rear and it decides to malfunction the front will activate and the vehicle will take off on you.

Ok ill see if i can get to the shop on monday to try this as way too cold outside to do anything Minus -50 today haha...

I noticed today front tires spinning on the snow and the back tires started spinning then stopped.\\\\the kicked in again for a second then kicked out even though the front tires were still spinning.

While in 4x4 lock front and rear tires spin all together.
