broken antenna...
hi all-
i broke the antenna off at the threads... one more reason not to put an antenna ball on and drive the freeways regularly! I have a 2002 Escape XLS. The problem is, I don't know how to get to the antenna base to replace it. I've searched the boards and havent found an answer. Thoughts??
thanks in advance,
melanie

RE: broken antenna...
Sent you the base antenna replacement instruction, but you should be able to get the broken portion out with a good easy-out.. If the antennahas never been removed/un-screwed, there is a small amount of a soft thread locker that keeps it from coming/vibrating loose.. If you have an automotive machine shop around, they can drill the remaining stainless 'stub' and use a straight/fluted easy-out to get the remaining piece out.. That is if the base portion hasn't been damaged.. Probably cheaper that a antenna assy replacement..

RE: broken antenna...
The antenna and the part that it threads into will run you about 55. plus tax. You will have to remove the inner fender to replace it. So maybe what hayapower said might be the easiest way. Even then, the antenna rod will cost 25.00.
