Default Can I put a 2.OL engine into car that had a 2.3L?

Hello,
I have a 2006 Mazda tribute (same as '06 Escape). My question is can I put a 2.0L L4 DOHC 16V engine out of a 2010 focus into that '06 which of course originally had 2.3L DOHC?

I'm having someone else do this for me but I just want to know if this is a basic swap or am I going to get nickled and dimed to death for all the differences in these engines? Major issues to overcome or no?

Thanks very much for your help! Just trying to get this car up and running for my daughter.

The computers for one thing are most likely programmed differently. You could be opening a money pit. Manufacturers change specs from ear to year and it could get expensive to try .
