We have a 2006 Escape XLT 3.0L. A couple days ago, I saw a broken part lying on my driveway (photos attached). Unless it's space junk or ejected from a neighbor's lawnmower, it likely fell from the Escape. Does anyone recognize what it is? I checked the serpentine belt and as many engine/suspension mounts as I could see, and nothing seems to match it. Any help is appreciated!
It's a round, black plastic(?) disk, about 3.75" in diameter. There is a low rim around the outside, and a square hole in the center, about 1" across, with rounded corners. I only have half of the part, as it clearly broke in half. The top surface is heavily worn, as if something was rubbing against it. Visually, it looks a bit like a clay pigeon for skeet shooting.
Found exactly the same bit on top of my V6 engine when I lifted the bonnet. I live in the Tenerife South and there's no lawnmowers down here. Be nice if we could have a sensible answer.
Wherever it was , it was under quite a load to fracture something that thick..
Did you check the passenger side strut inside the spring for a shield missing ?
It appears to either have rotating markings or maybe just looseness, hard to tell from the photos.
The upper mounts are in good condition which is the only suspension part that could get under the hood, its possible that they could have been replaced in the past and this bit had been stuck somewhere then got dislodged...........strange, especially when mine is identical to Mpm2020.
Gonna take a gamble here and guess its part of the engine mount.
Very easily wrong but considering what side its on and that I can't picture what that engine mount looks like thats my guess.
