Default Error P0204 - Broken seal?

on a 2003 Ford Escape 78,000 miles.... i got a P0205 error when doing a scan because the check engine light came on.... it was blinking and had gotten a P0305 prior but once i switched the 5 and 6 coils and made sure the connections were tight, it went away but then got a solid light with this P0205 error.

Wehn i unclipped the wired housing from the coil and looked inside, I noticed the green silicone/rubber seal (inside the housing) was torn.

1) Could that cause the error code P0205?

2) Do i have to splice in a whole new wiring connector to fix it? I purchased a replacement from Amazon but the one i got didnt even have the seal/gasket inside it.... dont know if it was removed or if thats how the come.

3) Can i order just that seal or gasket? and if so, what is it called? i couoldnt find it on amazon....

I really appreciate the input!

Jeff

Hi Jeff,
From past experience(s), I found it was best to stick with genuine OEM parts which in this case would be Motorcraft. If you purchased a different aftermarket part , who knows what you will get.
You can purchase the boot separately from any Ford dealer parts dept. How do you know if there is a problem with the spark plug ? The coils at that time were problematic and the better move was to replace all 6 of them. To eliminate any repeat problems while in there , good move to replace the plugs also. Sometimes we think we are going to save some $$$ doing a piece at a time only to find we should have done it all the same time. Cost is always a factor, but there is nothing like doing the job over not only once , but a few times and the cost is more than if we did the entire job right the first time. You can purchase Motorcraft parts in other places than the Ford dealership parts dept, that is your choice. Hope I was able to suggest what should save you some time and money in the long run.
