Default Escape odor when A/C is on

2008 Escape Limited 4wd . Whenever I turn on my A/C there is acrid burnt odor that enters the interior. there is a significant loss of power after driving for 5 min. It doesn't appear to come from the engine but rather the transmission area. Parked engine running shows no signs of oil dripping. If continue driving it seems as if it's going into limp mode with a noticeable jerk motion. It doesn't overheat. When put into neutral while still driving the jerking and knocking noise from undercarriage continues. Turning the a/c off eliminates said issues.

Two possibilities I can think of at the moment.

Possible A/C compressor problem places extra load on engine may produce burning odor
Might have a cracked flywheel plate, can make noises

Unfortunately, either one of these can be expensive to correct.
When high cost is involved, always good to get another opinion or two.

Always nice to hear the problem has been found and corrected.

If the suggested checks are done and the cause is not determined just pass on the work done/checked and if necessary might be able to offer some addl suggestions, thanks.

We don't replace parts on a guess because that can get expensive and disappointing.
