Default Escape PHEV help needed

I have the 2022 escape Phev and I leave it in EV now mode all the time. I know the gas engine can turn on for many reasons however I started getting the engine turning on when I first start the car while in EV now mode stating it's for "system performance". The messages for why the engine is on are normally pretty specific (if the gas is stale it will say that etc.).

The strange thing is that I have no HVAC on and no heated seats on and not moving yet the engine still turns on claiming system performance. On occasion the engine won't turn on but 100% of the time the engine enabled for system performance message comes up even if the engine didn't turn on.

I was wondering if any other escape 2022 PHEV owners have the same experience and if not that would also be very helpful to know.

Thanks!

Being under warranty, I would let your dealer diagnose and solve your Escape's problem.

There is something that the system may be detecting causing the IC engine to come on. If your owner's manual doesn't explain this ,your dealership should have someone trained to provide the testing necessary to determine what is going on.
