Default Ford Escape interior question

Hello, I just bought a 2005 Ford Escape XLT with 46000 miles. It has the pull out cargo cover in the back made of vinyl. Is there anyway to remove that whole assembly to get more stuff in the back? That thing is in the way.
Also, there are 3 plastic and metal bracket on the ceiling right above where the back flip up door is. Does anyone know what these are for?

thanks a lot

The cover should snap off its hinges to be removed.
The three metal brackets on the roof are there to secure child seats from the back seat.
