OD light flashing check engine light on
001 Escape xlt 3.0. Problems are OD light flashing and check eng light on reverse lights always on sometimes won't move in reverse but when it does it is normal. Drives like normal. It has 160,000 miles on it and always a solid car. It is now just used for getting around after it snows. Our mechanic hooked it up and he said it says Neutral safety switch. Is this even possible. Thanks for the help
There may be more than one problem.
It would help if you were able to provide the code(s) your mechanic found.
If there is an Autozone somewhere near you, they will check your vehicle for codes at no cost to you.
The flashing OD light tell us there is a problem with the trans, and it could be the neutral safety sw (now called manual lever position sw, ) (MLPS).
The check engine light may be telling us something is not right with engine operation, that is why we need the codes to help provide some direction.
