Default Power steering assit fault?

We drive a 2010 Escape,1700,000 kl. The message center says " Power steering assit fault" it has no power steering. When I first stated it I got this message but had powers steering, Figured it was just the cold. However when I turned the Truck off the next time no power steering and it has stayed off!

Is there anything I can try as we do not have over a grand for repair. Took it in for recall about two months ago, they found no code. I have lost it before, but turning the truck on and off worked, but never got message before.

Is there fuse or anything I could try, would truly apprecate any help.

Upper Arm work-out!
but serious, there is the fuse. If you don't have the manual you can look up your vehicles manual on-line at www.owner.ford.com
For those who want to review the assembly and parts, visit www.fordparts.com where you can find exploded diagrams for most parts.
