Default Rod failure

My freind has a 2004 escape with 66,000 miles. Highway miles, regular oil changes, well maintained. Rod failure just occurred, plenty of oil in it. Are there any problems with these engines that ford is not acknowleging. There is no way this shoulkd occurr at this milage and condition. If there is a history to this what has ford been willing to do.

Whether the Escape was equipped with the 3.0L V6 or the 2.0L Zetec, those are pretty good engines.

Are you sure this is not a 3.0L experiencing an upper cylinder ticking noise? There is a TSB "Technical service bulletin" on a "Ticking" noise from the left cylinder bank.

Info...........................

Some 2001-2005 Taurus/Sable, 2001-2006 Escape and 2005-2006 Mariner vehicles built prior to 1-17-2006 equipped with the 3.0L 4V Duratec engine may exhibit a ticking noise from the left bank cylinder head, with the engine at normal operating temperature only.

ACTION:
To diagnose, with the engine running and warm (normal operation temperature), using a mechanic's stethoscope determine if the ticking noise is coming from the left hand intake camshaft at cylinder number 6.

I can give you the repair procedure if that is waht it is.

Thanks for the response mulletman. No it wasn't ticking sound it was complete rod failure sending it through the block. Ford did step up to the plate with a $ 2,500. credit, better than nothing but this shouldn't happen in the first place.

That was good that Ford did that for you. I do have to say that Ford Motor Company does try and help out and do it quite often. I have worked on several vehicles that were over in mileage on warranty, but Ford paid for some or all of the repair.
