We have a 2001 Escape 4x4 with the 3.0 6cyl engine and i think a factory hitch. We are looking to buy a camper to possibly even live in for awhile to travel the USA and look for somewhere we may want to settle down. My question is how large of camper would we be able to safely tow with it. We are in Nebraska now and we have some family in California so yes we are going to want to be able to cross the mountains also.

I had thought about just getting a different tow vehicle but I have always wanted an escape and just finally got it a few months ago and now due to a death in the family I am no longer tied down to living here.
