I removed my head from a 1994 escort and this is what I found



The piston was all mangled around the edges and the bottom of the head was the same



My biggest question here is what caused this to happened and is it repairable?

 

I have been posting this topic on other boards and have had some great replys. The problems with this is a bad valve seat over the #4 cylinder, which inturn damage the top of my piston.
