Default 97' escort wagon won't start

While driving the serpentine belt started coming apart and the engine quit.
engine wouldn't start. Put new serpentine belt on and engine still won't start. Timing belt looks fine and is in place turning with engine. No fuses blown. no switches tripped(fuel). Anyone have this problem? Did I miss checking anything?

In the process of coming apart the belt pieces may have hit some wires in the front of the engine .
A careful check may help determine if this is what happened.

I had a serpentine belt shred on me once. It caused the timing belt to jump a couple teeth. It wouldn't start until I replaced both belts.
