Since no one bothered to answer this. I will. The only starters you can use on your 1.9 are starters from other 1.9s....you could possibly get one off of a 2.0 SPI which is a 97+ SE/LX Escort...

A Geo is a Geo until 96 when they were produced as Chevy's and a Grand am is Pontiac...both are General Motors...and your Escort is a Ford. Completely different.

but I don't see the point of it...just go to autozone and buy a 60 dollar starter that was meant for your LX.

Thanks for answering....the reason I asked is because I have these other cars for parts cars in my yard....both with lots of body damage only. And when I called AutoZone they told me $131 for the low-end starter and I'm kinda low on money.....But thanks.

131??? Christ...when I went to source a starter for my EGT I was priced at 90, then they priced me an LX starter for 60 something and they said "it should still work on a GT" I told the guy he was a retard and left.

Screw that ****...try Napa or some other store.

You could also try a used starter from a junk yard. They have great prices and even if its for a short time or with great luck it will last the time of your vehicle but anyways, it will give you the time you need to save up and get a new one or just plain fix the problem. Junk yards are great resources for parts. Some vehicle parts are from new vehicles or ones with low mileage but body damaged. Some times its worth the chance especially when money is tight. Again Good luck.
